THE LION AND THE MOUSE
A lion was once sleeping in the jungle. A little mouse
came there and started running up and down on lion’s body. The lion woke up
from his sleep and became angry. He was about to kill the mouse. The mouse prayed
for his life from lion and promised to help lion someday. The lion laughed at
mouse’s confidence and set him free.
After some days, a few hunters came into the forest
and caught the lion in the net . The lion began to roar. The little mouse heard
his roar and came there. He saw the lion in the net. The mouse cut the strings
of the net with his sharp teeth. The lion was free and he thanked the mouse for
his help.
Moral: Do good have good.
THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE
Once upon a time a there was a hare and a tortoise.
They were good friends. They used to play every day in the evening. One day the
hare challenged the tortoise for a running race. The tortoise agreed for the
race. They selected starting point and ending point. When the race began, the
hare ran very fast and the tortoise was left far behind. So the proudy hare
decided to take rest under a tree. He lay down and fall asleep. The tortoise
walked very slowly but steadily. He saw the hare sleeping but did not wake him
up and reached the winning point. When the hare woke up he ran fast towards the
winning post. The hare had lost the race and the tortoise was winner.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER
On one summer day, a grasshopper hopped lazily on
grass. He used to eat food and sang and danced whole day. While he was hopping
on the grass he saw an ant who was carrying its food to
her nest. On seeing hardworking ant, the grass hopper laughed at the ant and
told her to enjoy the life. The ant replied that she was busy in collecting
food for monsoon and suggested the grasshopper to do the same. The grasshopper was
carefree about the monsoon and continued singing and dancing. When the monsoon
came the ant was safe in her nest with sufficient food. The grasshopper was
dying of hunger and when he saw the ant happily enjoying her food he realised
the value of hardwork and labour.
Moral: Work today so that you can reap tomorrow.
THE GREEDY DOG
Once there was a dog he was carrying a chapatti in his
mouth. He was passing through a jungle. When he was crossing the bridge he saw
his own shadow in the river water. He thought it was another dog carrying a chapatti.
He was greedy, so he decided to fight and snatch (take away) the chapatti from
other dog. He barked and his chapatti fell into the river.
Moral: Don’t be greedy. Don’t try to snatch things
from others or else you have to loose things belonging to you.
THE MONGOOSE AND THE WOMAN
There was a women. She had a pet mongoose. One day she
was going to the market. She left her
little son with the mongoose. When she came back she saw the mongoose at the
door. Its mouth was full of blood. The women thought that mongoose killed her
little son. She took the stick and then she killed the mongoose at once. When
she entered the room, she saw a poisonous snake which was killed by the
mongoose near her son’s cradle. Her son was sleeping peacefully. The woman
understood that mongoose saved the life of her son. She cried for killing the loyal
mongoose. But nothing can
Moral : Haste makes waste. Don’t act in haste.
