Read the following extracts and answer the questions given below them.

★   In a dark cave flows a dark river, And on its stony bank 

there sits a man, 

Old as the sun or older, 

Weaving a yarn of rainbow 

and humming a song. 

(1) Where does a river flow? 
Ans- A river flows in a dark cave.

(2) How is a cave? 
Ans- A cave is dark.

(3) Who sits on the bank of the river?  

Ans- An old man sits on the bank of the river.

(4) What does the old man doing? 

Ans- The old man is weaving a yarn of rainbow and  humming a song.

(5) Where is the man sitting? 

Ans- The man is sitting on the stony bank of the river.

(6) How old is the man?  

Ans- The man is as old as the sun or perhaps older than the sun.

★   But the blind, deaf fish 

that swim in the stream 

See neither yarn nor man, 

Nor hear his everlasting song. 

(7) Where does the fish swim? 

Ans- The fish swims in the stream.

(8) Why does the poet call the fish blind? 

Ans- The poet calls the fish blind because it cannot see the man and his yarn.

(9) What was there in the stream? 

Ans- There was a blind and deaf fish in the stream.

10) Can the fish hear an old man's everlasting songs? Why?

Ans- No, the fish cannot hear an old man's everlasting songs because it is deaf.
